Hello Darlene! I would like to do the same kind of Halloween puzzles that you would like, I've always liked scary movies..heck, when I was 5 months pregnant with my son, we went to see "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" at a drive-in theater, when I went to work the next day, and told some of my co-workers about going, they seemed apalled by that and said I tainted my baby! LOL!
I think I may have already told you we've worked 2,000 piece puzzles before, it was hard because our table was barely big enough to hold all the pieces AND have a space for us to do other things on the table if need be. So, we've decided not to do any more puzzles larger than the 1000 piece kind. I've been watching a woman on TicTok that is working a 9,000 piece puzzle, she had to get a work space built for her to put it on and have room for all those pieces..  I hope you have a good day!

Hi Darlene! We will be doing the Halloween puzzles from last year, I kept those instead of giving them away or donating them, like we do to our other puzzles...my husband doesn't like the scary kind of Halloween things, not the cutesy stuff! LOL! I went out to do some errands this morning, made a donation to the Hope Shelter thrift store, boy the smoke from the Ross wildfires over in Palo Pinto county is hanging over Weatherford,  I talked to my brother who lives in Mineral Wells (it's the town between where I live and where the 80,000 acre fires are burning), he said the smoke over ther was really bad!

Good evening Darlene. It’s nice and sunny here today after having heavy rain yesterday and it seems the days will be nice through to next week. That will dry the ground out a little as it’s beginning to get soggy.   I’ve jst come in from taking a stroll up and down the driveway and took Muffy with me so he could have a romp around.  Will go back out again soon as I can sit on the retaining wall where I can dig up a few Iris’s that I want to transplant.  Where they are now other plants are smothering them too much. I can do it now while the ground is soft. I think I may have lost a few this past year which is unusual as they are hardy plants.

So sad to see that Dolly Parton has passed away. She was a wonderful entertainer. Not many of those great entertainers left now. I will send a message later this evening if I can. Hugs to you.  Nice page:)

Hi Darlene! we finished the last puzzle on Friday, and started this puzzle on Saturday, we'll finish putting it together today...it was 109* outside yesterday, so we stayed inside all day...same is forecast for today and tomorrow, 108-109*...but by the end of the week, we're only supposed to hit 100* for the high, hoping they are correct about that, it would mean the hottest part of the summer is finally coming to an end...but we will see...we've stayed in the 100's through most of Sept. before.

Your friendship is sooo sweet & yummy! Have a great last week of August.

I have 2 female hummingbirds who come by. I have only seen them cross paths twice--and each time they flew at one another. One would dart into the nearby trees. That's how I realized I had 2--I thought one just came all day long. So sad about finding a deceased one. I worry about coming acoss my furry or feathered friends like this or getting sickly. Possums, racoons, rabbits, a chipmunk, a woodchuck all come by to have a snack (mainly birdseed, peanuts, walnuts and some blueberries if I have them).

We like getting seasonal produce from the local farms. This time of year is good for peaches, corn and big tomatoes₊ I like to buy honey or maybe a locally made pie also. A small way to keep money in our immediate economy. ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

Hello Melinda. I do like spaghetti, and if it comes with  meat of some kind in it, I like it even more....The strange thing about rain is that even if there is lightning and thunder with it, I just want to get under the covers in bed and take a nap. Have a positive new week. August is winding down and will soon disappear and September will make an entrance. This may contain: an orange cat laying on top of a blanket next to a plate and remote control

A long time since I  danced around the kitchen or any where else:)  Nice page Darlene.  Will chat soon. Hugs

A peaceful Sunday to you. My deck plants are still going strong.

08/22/2026 12:39:41

Yes, we are driving up to the mountains tomorrow (Sunday) for the day..Black Mountain NC..it's about 78 miles NW of us. Will do lunch and visit the shops. There's a lake/park close by, so planning on hanging around there for a bit. It has a nice walking trail with picnic tables and benches.

08/22/2026 09:42:48

I hope you have a wonderful weekend Darlene! I took my 2 girls for a walk at the lake park this morning, got there a few minutes after 7, it was already  muggy out, so I didn't get to walk them for the 30 min I try to every time we go...my Cassie is a chunky butt, so the humidity does her no good... We have a 20% chance for a little rain this afternoon, but I'm afraid this excessive heat we're having will just evaporate any rain we MIGHT have before it even makes it to the ground! I love your fall page, makes me wish we were already into October.

Hi Darlene! Glinda was my favorite character. Though she doesn't have such a big part in the classic movie, she is a prominent character in the Oz world/books. Did you ever see Oz The Great And Powerful? Inspired by the books, but not a plotline in any of them.

I was a high school language arts teacher for 31 yrs. Some of the many classes I taught lol 9th Grade Eng, 10th grade English, Fantasy & Sci-Fi, College Essay & Research, 12th grade World Literature, English Essentials, Improving Writing Skills--anyway, I had hoped to be a special rdg teacher with my Rdg minor & Masters in Learning Disabilities. But they did away with that Title 1 tutoring position. What I mostly taught in my 5 class a day schedule is behavior problem students who were behind on credits. Once for 5 yrs I exclusively had 9th graders & the last 6 yrs I had 4 hrs of seniors & only 1 hr of 'Essentials.' Just got tired of how politicized being a teacher became & retired in 2018 though I had once planned to teach until 2023.

My garden is still going strong, though the sunflowers are turning to seed as they should. I hope to attract goldfinches with those. This is the best time of year for farmers markets. The two near me already have a fall look. Have a fun Friday-Cyndi

Hi Darlene.  It’s a dreery dull day with a fine misty rain. I’m just getting to the stage where I would like to see a few sunny bright days and a little more warmth. Winter is just beginning to drag out so its just as well we are almost into spring.  I’ve just returned home from having another blood test and now enjoying a cup of tea.  Hopefully that will be the last one for a few months now. My daughter collected me and took me to the medical centre as I haven’t been driving my self for a couple of months now but hope to get back into that in the next week or two.  The battery on my car went flat from lack of use so I had the RAA man call in this morning to start it up to recharge.   Re the cataracts. Yes, I had both eyes done several weeks apart. It’s only day surgery and I only wore the eye patch until next morning. I remember I had to put in eye drops for several weeks.  When my son had his done he opted for both to be done within 24 hours and he had no problems. Enjoy your Friday and weekend. Hugs ~Pat~

Well them gnats  can sure  buzz loud.

Are we to worry about them  possibly  giving Malaria too?

You are probably right .I didn`t give that a thought and you don`t hear people speaking about gnats  very often . lol

.They are saying September is supposed to be a pretty cool month  .

That Applebees lost business as  they had to get all the folks  out of the restaurant.

Im assuming they got visited by  an officer to tell them what had occurred.

The folks there at the time will  probably get free dinners .

Have a nice evening Darlene

I hope you're enjoying the part of the week Darlene, I have been busy this morning, took both my girls to the vet, Maddie has a bit of an ear infection, and Cassie has been put on prescription allergy medications, since the store brand of allergy medicine is no longer helping her...that prescription was $45 for 2 weeks worth of pills! Also, I have been gathering up some fall decorations to donate to the Hope Shelter Thrift store..so the car is loaded and I'll take it there in the morning...

'Advice from a sunflower: Be bright, sunny and positive. Spread seeds of happiness. Rise, shine and hold your head high.'

08/18/2026 14:10:20

Hi Darlene im glad it didn`t go in my ear as it happened  to others.  They very tiny .

I have also seen them moths before in the past .

I have a front porch light and one by my back door also .

But  very rarely are they ever turned on .

Some folks   will keep lights on all might long  for   security i guess.

Really no need to with police and cameras all over.  In a bad area  yes .

But i can understand the sense of extra security if  one is a female and lives alone.

Hope you are having a nice Tuesday .

You know i looked at my  left arm just now and i noticied it did get bit

I`ll live through it lol  :)

Hi Darlene, yes hot and humid here and it grows okra well.   It does tend to be slimy and I don't care for it boiled. If fried it's not slimy at all.  I also cook it in the oven on a high heat and that gets rid of most of the slime. We are holding on for Fall here. It's miserably hot and the thunderstorms that help cool us off haven't been consistent. no hurricanes though so thanikful for that. Have a good Tuesday!

08/17/2026 09:33:22

heck, I've been seeing people on TikTok work 9,000 piece puzzles by themselves! 2,000 pieces is the biggest puzzle we've ever took on...it was something to watch how they work them. One lady worked over 5 hrs  just to seperate pieces out by "colors" and also the edge pieces.. she had several piles of puzzle pieces to work from...

As you can see by my book collection, I'm a big Wizard Of Oz fan. My fav childhood movie & throughout my life. I can't count the number of times I have watched it. Big Judy Garland fan too (Meet Me In St. Louis, Summer Stock, A Star Is Born). Have the Wicked books also.
I used to show my students Somewhere In Time (another fav) & I'd let them debate about the existence of 'The Watch.'
In the green books (which you see three volumes of the 14 Oz books), there are two books that inspired Richard Matheson to write Bid Time Return (Somewhere In Time)--Jack's Finney's books From Time To Time & Time and Again. Great movies Melinda, including CastAway & those Christmas classics!

08/16/2026 15:15:02

Hi Darlene! this is the current puzzle we're working on, it's called "Beach Fantasy" I would have thought it would have had "Tea Room" in the title somewhere... since that's on beach store roof
